Last Friday, we concluded a beautiful event and celebrated the new world champions, Pim and Lisa van Vugt. Below are some links to the event reports and the photo gallery.
Sustainability is close to our hearts. Just as we sailors harness the natural wind for energy, we are committed to making our event as sustainable as possible. To achieve this, we have implemented the following actions.
Cup
Every participant will receive a cup featuring the event logo. This cup is crafted from cane sugar plastic, a biodegradable material. We kindly request that you use this cup for your beverages during the event. Additional cups can be purchased at the bar.
Bring your own cup policy
Whenever you visit the bar to order a drink, please bring your own cup and place an order for the drink you’d like to purchase.
Recycling policy
We try to use as much as possible recyclable packaging such as:
Glass bottles for beer
Plastic (PET) bottles for other drinks
Please return your glass bottles to the bar and deposit the PET bottles in the specific plastic bags.
Trash
Please dispose of any other trash in the containers located at various points throughout the venue.
Racing
While racing, please hand any trash to the organization’s boats. Do not throw it into the water, as we are sailing in a natural area
This is the first newsletter on RS500 worlds to get into the mood and to prepare for the upcoming RS500 Worlds in Bruinisse, The Netherlands.
1. Preparation of social activities
NEW: International party preparation.
The RS500 Worlds is known for its fantastic traditions, and this year is no exception! In addition to our Dutch party, we’re thrilled to introduce an International Party. To add a fun twist, we’re incorporating a dress code: we invite you to wear something that represents your home country.
Feel free to bring a delicious (alcoholic) beverage from your country to share, making the party even more lively and culturally diverse. Sailors are always in for a fun game, so bring your best games and have some fun.Coordinate with your fellow sailors to surprise everyone with your best outfits and games to make this a memorable event and possibly a new tradition.
If you have dietary restrictions for the BBQ or dinner, please let us know, by sending a mail to: worlds@rs500.nl
NEWS from the International RS500 class
We received message from The International RS500 class that they will be arranging a daily price giving where every sailor will have the equal chance to win a price! This price giving takes place every evening from Monday to Thursday. Time and place will be announced later.
2. Race preparation
Sail measurements
The measurement of the mainsail will take place at registration
The race committee has asked us to make sure that all sail numbers are easy to read. This to avoid problems determining your finish position. For this reason we will check on the colour and location of your sail number and nationality letters.
So, when registering for the event, please do not forget to bring your main sail.
Membership RS500 International
The RS500 International class association requires membership in order to compete in the Worlds, see also the Notice of Race. This will be checked at registration. Please arrange your membership upfront.
This is not applicable to Dutch, Czech or UK sailors: they do not need to arrange membership of the International class association, it is already included in their national membership. For sailors of other countries please arrange your membership. Be aware that both helm and crew need to arrange a membership, so two memberships per boat.
